Schools Digital Resources Project

Development of Digital Resources to Support School Language Programs

VACL is pleased to announce the commencement of a new project to produce innovative digital audio-visual resources to support language reclamation and revitalisation activities in Victorian schools and communities.

The project will be undertaken in partnership with the Victorian Aboriginal Education Association Incorporated (VAEAI), Traditional Owner Groups and three schools currently teaching Aboriginal Languages as part of a Victorian Schools pilot.

Thornbury Primary School in Melbourne and Heywood & District Secondary College in the state's south-west are currently involved in a two year Aboriginal languages pilot program which commenced in 2012. Thornbury students have been learning Woiwurrung, the language of the Wurundjeri People, while in Heywood students have been learning the Gunditjmara Languages. Swan Hill Primary School commenced a Wemba Wemba School Languages Program in 2014.
