On 6 February 2014 Minister for Arts, Senator George Brandis, announced that new language projects will be allocated 2.6 million dollars in funding.
In 2013, the Australian Government developed a new National Cultural Policy, announcing that it will allocate nearly $14 million in funding to support community driven Australian language resources over the next four years.
In 2013 the Australian Curriculum, Assessment and Reporting Authority developed a Framework for Indigenous and Torres Straight Islander Languages within the Australian Curriculum – Languages.
